Water Damage Concerns

I want to share something that happened to us this last year. I thought I had everything taken care of when we went on our Christmas cruise. Several family members joined us as we toured the beautiful Caribbean. While we were gone there was a big freeze in our hometown. Temperatures reached record lows. We arrived home to find we had big plumbing leaks. The pipe burst in the basement and there was a major water cleanup problem.

Flooded houses are not something most people can deal with. We weren’t sure what to do, so we called a water damage restoration company. They told us they had same day service and could do most basement flood cleanup projects for a very reasonable price. Of course I was worried about the cost, but I knew it had to be done correctly.

Water damage can cause more problems than most people realize. I knew mold was a possibility so I didn’t want to take any chances.

In the future I would encourage anyone who has water problems to seek the proper help. Our basement was restored and looked just like new when the professionals were done. The best part was that my insurance paid for the whole thing. It was a win-win situation, but in the future I will turn the water off before leaving on vacation.
